A methodological workshop was the occasion for the REFORMED team to discuss with Stephen Ball the challenges of doing network ethnography as a way to better understand emerging processes of education policy formation and dissemination. Professor Ball shared with the team research strategies and useful insights for the development of the research strand 1 of the Reformed project. Conceptually, professor Ball reflected on challenges related to the definition of the boundaries of the network, how to cope with the omission of relevant nodes, and how to analyze policy influence within governance networks. The added value of the mapping and visual representation of networks was also at the center of our debate.
