Applying social network analysis to the study of policy borrowing and lending, with Gita Steiner-Khamsi

On February the 10th, 2017, the Reformed team met Gita Steiner-Khamsi, professor of Comparative and International at Columbia University and Director of NORRAG. In a research seminar she gave at UAB, professor Steiner-Khamsi reflected on the potentialities of using social network analysis in investigating education policy borrowing processes. For the REFORMED project, the seminar was the occasion to discuss with professor Steiner-Khamsi about the peculiarities of the international dissemination of school autonomy with accountability reforms.

On the same day, professor Steiner-Khamsi gave a conference at the UAB Faculty of Sciences of Education of UAB on the coverage of international large-scale assessments (such as PISA and TIMSS) made by business-oriented media over the period 1996-2016. Finally, in an interview she gave to UAB Divulga, professor Steiner-Khamsi reflected on the effects of international large-scale assessments on education policy-making. See the Spanish translation of this interview here
