In May 2017, Derek Beach, professor of the Department of Political Science of the Aarhus University, 1 offered the research seminar Don’t stop the clock: studying processes using mechanistic evidence, which had Raquel Gallego2 from IGOP 3 as discussant. Following this seminar, professor Beach gave a three-day research workshop on process tracing to the REFORMED team. There, professor Beach reflected on the theoretical and methodological foundations of process tracing, as well as on case-study selection, generation of causal mechanisms, or the use of counter-factual evidences within process tracing methodology. The REFORMED team is applying some of the main premises of process tracing methodology in the development of the research strand 1 of the project4.
